Auran Piatigorsky, PhD, LP, CMPC
As a licensed clinical sport psychologist, I work primarily in private practice, serving high-performance athletes.
I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, where I conduct research examining psychological performance in student-athletes, teach graduate students, and work with the Cal Golden Bears.
My passion for sports began in my youth while kayaking on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder, after which I led extended wilderness expeditions around the world. These experiences demanded high performance under acute pressure, harsh conditions, and prolonged stress—challenges that parallel competitive athletics.
Following an injury, I turned my focus to clinical psychology, earning an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, with a specialization in ADHD and personality. I completed a clinical and research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, and subsequently served as Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in its distinguished CBT/DBT clinic. This experience equipped me to address the broad range of psychological challenges encountered in athletics.
Recognizing the overlap of mental health and performance, and drawing on my passion for sport, I expanded my clinical expertise into athletics by earning the credential of AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). Combined, these disciplines empower my specialty services for athletes.
